Dr Richard Baxter was awarded his medical degree from University College London in 1998. He qualified as a Surgeon in 2003, pursuing a career in Orthopaedics. He later had a change of direction, preferring the more holistic discipline of General Practice. Since 2007, he has worked as a GP in Dorset and Hampshire, as well as a Locum GP here on the island, and in Australia for 3 years. Richard is also a qualified Lifestyle Medicine physician, a Diplomate of the British Society and International Board of Lifestyle Medicine (BSLM/IBLM). “My emphasis is on promoting whole-person health and wellness, complemented by incorporating Lifestyle Medicine, which allows me to draw together my passions for plant-based nutrition, exercise, mental well-being and stress management.” Outside of work, Richard can be found cycling, running, swimming, being at the beach, reading, and sharing ideas about how to achieve even better health and wellness with anyone that is interested. He is married, and has 3 children, a dog, and a cat.
